OOL Wireless service (Owensboro Online Wireless) is provided via the former Owensboro Municipal Utilities wireless network. Originally established in 2001 by OMU to bring high-speed internet service to Owensboro KY residents, the network was purchased by Norlight Inc. in 2008.
Now owned and managed by QWireless, the OOLW network still serves the city of Owensboro and nearby residents, utilizing 15 tower sites around and near the city. Upgrades to the network are expected in 2011 to increase maximum speeds.
